Story Board

A production on goal-setting and self-esteem building for kids, with an underlying message of drug and alcohol abuse prevention education.

This production requires a space 21 feet wide and a ceiling height of 11 feet. Puppets are viewed at 6 feet from ground. Children sit on floor (or chairs) and the first row is 8 feet from stage. An aisle is required in the audience. Max audience size: 400.
Preshow: The basketball coach/puppeteer teaches the audience, using 20 volunteers, the hit song "I Like Myself". Both songs from the show are included on a complimentary CD that is sent to the school as part of the pre and post show lesson plan package.

Instructional Video for teaching "I Like Myself"
Bouncer writes a letter to his grand mother thanking her for his birthday present. In the letter he tells about how he has left any idea of drug and alcohol abuse behind with the help of his parents and his basketball coach and talks about all the positive things he's involved in. He also laments the problems his older brother, Wac Dog, continues to have.
Bouncer's next door neighbors, Sunny and Honey, play basketball while waiting for Bouncer.
At band practice the three friends rehearse for the upcoming talent show by performing a sing-along with the audience of "I Like Myself".
After warnings about the dangers of Bouncer's dog, "Spike", the three friends decide to build a tree house with disastrous and comic results.
The coach helps the friends by sharing with them the "6 Steps to Success..Goal Setting" The coach turns the auditorium into a big class room as he walks the students through the 6 steps. ( Define the goal, problems achieving the goal, skills needed, who can help, plan of action, date finished) The coach concludes by teaching the audience a second song, "I can do it if I plan..Yes I Can!"
Sunny and Honey set off to get materials to build an elaborate, well planned tree house leaving Bouncer to start working on his dream machine, a rocket. He's interrupted by his brother Wac Dog who wants Bouncer to take drugs with him. Bouncer refuses causing an argument. Wac Dog stomps off leaving Bouncer confused, with hurt feelings and more determined than ever to succeed with his positive lifestyle.
In a big production number Honey and Sunny build an amazing tree house complete with hot tub, refrigerator and cell phone.
Bouncer launches his rocket with his brother Wac Dog at the controls, only to have it crash into the tree.
The audience reprises a medley of "I can do it" and "I Like Myself" and finally meets "Spike".

"An Excellent performance with a valuable lesson for the students."
